Youth & Family News

Augustana youth are divided in to several age groups. Elementary youth are split into three groups. Lower Elementary (LE) is for youth in kindergarten through second grade. Middlers are our new group. This is designed for third and fourth graders. Youth in grades five and six are invited to join us for Upper Elementary (UE) events. We are always seeking adults (and older youth) who are interested in helping with these three joyful groups of youth.

The High School Youth Group is being restructured. Senior high youth are also reminded that we have a special place for them each Sunday morning. All youth in grades nine through twelve are invited to join us for a time of learning during the Sunday School hour.

Imagine That…Smile in Public

Whether we realize it or not, most people are taught to not smile in public (this means that they are scowling). Next time you are on the road, walking down the street or in a store, try to change this pattern, smile at those you meet. Watch how those you smile to react, you may be surprised, you may even get a smile in return!

Faith Talks

® If you had the whole day to do anything you wanted, what would you do?
® Tell about a favorite Bible story you remember. Why do you like it?
® How do you know that God loves you?
® Think of someone that you could invite to church. Why did you pick this person?

Five Ways to Show Kids You Care

1 Be Relaxed
2 Kneel, squat or sit so that you are at their eye level (if they are tall, you may need to stand on a chair!)
3 Answer their questions
4 Tell them how terrific they are
5 Create a tradition with them and keep it

Finger Prayer

Use this rhyme and the fingers on your own hands as a reminder to pray for others….
® My thumb is small, it's plain to see. It's a reminder to pray for me.
® My pointer finger shows me where to go, I'll pray for those who guide me as I grow.
® My middle finger stands so tall, I'll thank God who watches over all.
® Finger number four is weaker than the rest. Please God, care for those who need your rest.
® My very last finger is tiny like a child. I'll pray for other kids across the whole world wide.

Ministry Teams

Adults are needed to help plan and carry out activities and events for each of our youth groups at Augustana. Please talk with Pastor Solomon if you are interested in serving in this way.
